AXA Climate and Altitude

AXA Climate has 5 business units to support its clients and partners, based on expertise: Insurance, Training, Consulting, SaaS Products, and Regen. Globally, we are a team of +200 climate experts, headquartered in Paris, spread over 5 continents and driven by the same desire for impact. Our purpose is to help Planet Earth become a true stakeholder of all companies, in the same way that employees, customers and shareholders are!

Altitude is the brand of our SaaS business. Our purpose is Adaptation. We build solutions, for decision makers, to enable climate and environmental adaptation. Our products are tailor-made for each persona: Private Equity firms, Agricultural cooperative, etc. We are +25 people working on it: product managers, designers, developers, business developers, etc.

We are autonomous within AXA Climate, but we work closely with the consulting teams dedicated to Financial Services and Agri sectors. We strongly believe that success is collective and we play as one team.

Altitude Solution - 3 products

Altitude for Finance is our first product, launched un September 2022. It is a platform dedicated for Infrastructure and Private Equity funds, enabling risk screening in pre-acquisition Due-Diligence, and enabling portfolio monitoring for reporting (such as TCFD). It is an innovative one-stop-shop for sustainability and investment teams, screening climate and nature-related risks and opportunities within minutes, very easy to use, and fully automated.

We launched in February 2024 Altitude Agriculture, dedicated for cooperatives and agri-food companies.

All they are all running with our GIS Compute Engine modeling climate risks globally, our “Crown jewels”.

We now have +50 clients and are quickly growing, hence the need for a CTO like YOU!

Your mission as Altitude CTO

The CTO works hand in hand with Altitude BU leader to ensure the success of the SaaS BU.

You missions include:

• Recruiting, training and managing Developers and Lead developers (employees AND contractors) to form the Features Teams that develop the various Altitude products.

• Maintain a technical watch and implement R&D to ensure that Altitude products are innovative, state-of-the-art, and well positioned in the market.

• Actively contribute to the launch of new Altitude products, and enable the scaling up of more mature products.

In addition, as a CTO, you:

• Ensure IS security and compliance with AXA Group and market standards.

• Ensure code quality - and enforces the “Zero Bug” policy (quality culture).

• Manage infrastructure and related issues (may choose to delegate).

• Are an individual contributor on certain fixed-term subjects (e.g. cross-functional operations, PoC, etc.) that require it.

The Tech team is made of 15 people organized in feature teams.

• Experience: you already have 10+ years of experience in tech roles at a high growth B2B company

• You are an entrepreneur, you like to launch and grow new businesses

• You have experience with Agile framework, and you embrace the lean management philosophy.

• Solution-oriented: You are a problem solver, you look for pragmatic ways to move forward efficiently.

• Tech-team management: You are a leader, you are driving engagement of people in your team, you help them grow.

• Project management in complex organisation: You know how to manage a project, handling relationships and dependencies with several stakeholders. You are confortable in a fast changing environment.

• You are an expert of AWS Services (especially Serverless services), Typescript (90% of Altitude code base), and serverless framework.

• You are confortable with Terraform, Python, React, Gitlab CI.

• Fluent in English and French

• You have a strong interest for climate, sustainability, and science

• You’re a fantastic team player, with whom it is cool to work alongside.
